The 2030 Agenda as a successful and sustainable business model

2021 Dec 21

In 2015, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), UN member states, and citizens around the world coordinated 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets, as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.

Although the 2030 Agenda is focused on countries, its fulfillment encompasses everyone: governments, citizens, and private initiative. In the case of companies, the implementation of the SDGs in their business models offers them great benefits, for example:

  • Better links. By recognizing the needs and demands of their different stakeholders, they establish more effective relationships with collaborators, partners, clients, and the community in general.

  • Adaptation to the environment. With actions for the care of the environment, they reduce the impacts of their actions and integrate more effectively into the environment where they are developed.

  • Competitiveness and performance. A vision of sustainability can be increased the competitiveness and performance of companies, through more efficient management of its resources, both human and material.

In this way, companies that adopt compliance with the SDGs generate greater value in the market in which they are developed, at the same time that they contribute to generating new models aimed at caring for the environment, people's lives and guaranteeing the resources to the development of present and future generations.

To encourage the implementation of the SDGs in the private initiative, marhnos® joined My World México, which brings together the Mexican business sector from all sectors that promote compliance with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs throughout the country.

No matter the size, dimension, or objective of the organizations, the relevant thing is to join the efforts for the implementation of the SDGs and the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda, to advance in a sustainable and resilient recovery in the face of the Covid-19 crisis towards the Construction of Wellbeing in a new normal based on more inclusive, equitable and responsible economic growth and social development with the environment to create wellbeing and a sustainable future.
